IT’S AN ACTIVE SUMMER IN SYDNEY

OK, so imagine a London summer but on the beach, that is what it’s like right now in Bondi Beach! It’s 25 degrees here in Sydney at 6:30am on a Friday, everyone is rushing round frantically to fit in their morning run, swim and coffee with friends before the day starts. So as you can imagine a lot of ACTIVEWEAR around.

With that being said, why has activewear become part of our everyday looks?

In recent years, activewear has made it from the gym to our daily wardrobes. I always ask myself why no one can be bothered to put on jeans and a blouse anymore, but it’s just style changing over time.

Once relegated to fitness classes and outdoor activities, athleisure is now a go-to choice for most people from casual outings to lunch dates and even work-from-home days.

A few factors as to why it has become so popular are

1. Comfort Above All Else - Traditional office attire can feel restrictive whilst activewear provides a sense of ease and freedom of movement without sacrificing style.

2. The Rise of Athleisure Culture

It’s become a cultural movement, influenced by changing attitudes toward fitness and well-being. People are embracing active lifestyles more than ever before, and clothing brands have caught on by designing pieces that blur the line between workout gear and everyday wear.

3. The Influence of Social Media

Influencers, celebrities, and fitness enthusiasts have popularised activewear often posting photos and videos of themselves wearing stylish looks, showing how to style activewear with a variety of accessories and shoes further establishes its versatility.

5. Sustainability and Innovation

As environmental concerns grow, consumers are becoming more conscious of the products they purchase, seeking out brands that prioritise sustainability. Activewear companies have responded by using eco-friendly materials. The combination of high-performance, durability, and eco-consciousness makes activewear not only a practical choice but also a responsible one for those looking to reduce their carbon footprint.
